Favorite Classes-Aquaponics and Olericulture.

Hey everyone- I finally finished studying and doing my homework for two of my classes, Aquaponics and Olericulture
imageFor my aquaponic class- I was able to build my own mini system thanks to Cool Professor Mike.  We just finished week 7 of classes. And so far my coleus is doing great, and My baby heirloom purple Cherokee tomato plant 😀 It’s growing really fast compare to the one I planted in soil. I love aquaponics. I got 6 platies fish (livebearers) and one plecostomus ( an algae eater)

Here’s a couple of red wriggler cocoons- I was able to see one come out of its cocoons while I observed it under the microscope-  Soo cool!!!!

His name is Angus a 2lb tilapia-  He’s such an adorable fish.

For my olericulture class- I learned how to make soil blocks- Super easy to make and very affordable.

A couple weeks ago, My partners and I had to build our own cold frame. It took about 4hrs to create. (We never worked with tools) We planted different cool weather seeds (radish, lettuce, and turnips) on the soil blocks. Once the seedling grew- we had to transplant the soil blocks to the cold frame.

I took this picture earlier today, and everything looks so big and delicious- Can’t wait to harvest those greens. Yummmy~! 🙂
